About

I’ve been a Reception teacher in North London for six years.   I love my job and am constantly striving to improve my practice and to give the children magical experiences.  I tend to plan around themes based on the children’s interests and have a particular passion for role play. I am currently trying to transform my very tired and dated outdoor area into a more natural, physically challenging and beautiful place!

  1. Hi
We’re sorry to see on kiernas blog that you have a painful problem waiting some cosy product on an unusually long timescale.

Could you drop me a line with your school name /postcode and we’ll unearth it.(we’ve recently moved before Christmas to accommodate increased demand and added many new staff to buying and customer service )

Apologies we’ve let you down as we raise our game and help our suppliers to meet the growing number of customers voting the cosy way.

Hi, I’m a Year 1 teacher (new to the English system as I’m Irish) We are changing our Y1 next year to be more like reception. I’ve been asked to design a new outdoor play are for my class next year but as we don’t have these in Ireland it’s all new to me. I’m feeling overwhelmed by the amount of equipment available out there and am having difficulty choosing. I was just wondering as I feel yours is amazing, what are the essentials that I MUST have! Any advice would be great! Thanks Gemma

Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for sharing so many of your fantastic ideas. So glad I’ve found your Blog and look forward to reading more of your posts.
We are also constantly trying to improve our outdoor area and make it less plastic and more creative. We are also trying to make our Investigation area more exciting and stimulating. Do you have any suggestions to help us improve our provision? What do you have in your Investigation area as continuous provision and do you have any great enhancement ideas you could share?
Thanks again and hope you’re having a great summer.

    hello Alison,
I develop the products for cosy and I wondered whether it would be possible to ask permission to use your photo of the beads in numicon. I’m always trying to change the photos we use to give more ideas.
    Please email direct Thankyou

Congratulations on becoming a mum. I’m currently on maternity leave with my second but due to return to work soon as leader of a foundation stage team. This is a fantastic blog well done and enjoy your time off as a mummy.

Hi. I just wondered if you could advise what the situation is with regard to using the images that you post on this website. Are they able to be shared with others through presentations or recreated on other websites? Thanks.

    • Hi Gail, I’d be honoured for people to use my photos in their presentations, but they must be credited with my blog name. Most of the photos are water marked anyway. Many thanks for getting in touch.
